Taking care of yourself is essential to living a happy and good life. I am the worst at this when I know that it is important to make time for myself and to practice good self-care. I have two large New Year’s Resolutions coming up in 2018. One is to practice more self-care and the other is to decrease our debt to income ratio. There are many reasons that I want to accomplish these goals, but the most important reason that comes to mind is that of being able to care for my family.   1. Alleviate pain from old injuries. I used to run a lot. I still run some but not the miles and miles a day that I used to run when I was marathon training. I often miss my days of running but I do not miss the injuries that would send me into deep despair and a depressive state if I was in the middle of a training program. Getting injured would set me back and it was very upsetting when I had been working so hard to achieve goals. Sometimes when I run now, I sometimes feel minor or dull pain in my tibia. I injured my tibia many years ago and while I thought it was completely healed, this must not be the case as I still feel pain sometimes. Recently I learned that physiotherapy can help alleviate pain from old injuries which makes me think that I could be free of pain forever if I gave physiotherapy a try.

  1. Reduce risks of developing new injuries. In addition to alleviating pain from old injuries, this type of therapy can also assist in reducing the development of new problems. When using physiotherapy correctly, it will help you strengthen your muscles and prevent you from getting injured in the future.

  1. Learn exercises that will help with mobility. Being imobile is a nightmare for many as it can really hold your freedom. We often take for granted our ability to move about freely and go wherever we want to go when our bodies are fully functioning. When you're in pain and have a hard time getting around, you can find yourself feeling depressed and bored. Physiotherapy can help you build up your strength in a gentle manner without causing too much strain on your boyd. Like a personal trainer, a physiotherapist can help you will learn great techniques and they will also teach you helpful exercises that will assist you in achieving the results you desire.
