Taking on an ENORMOUS Challenge

It is no secret that I like a challenge. It is also no secret that I enjoy running and helping others. That is why I decided to sign up for Team Challenge.

After running a few 5k's, I decided that I wanted to train to run a half marathon. My sister, Allison and I signed up to run together in the Cincinnati half marathon in October together. I knew that I was going to need additional drive and motivation to train to run 13.1 miles and D pointed out to me that I could also run the Rock n Roll Half Marathon in Las Vegas, NV in November. D and I have been in Vegas a couple of times when the main strip has been closed down for the Rock N Roll Half Marathon and I never in a million years dreamed that I would want to run it.

A couple of years later, I find myself training for the Rock n Roll Half Marathon in Vegas. Training for the half is quite a challenge in itself but with Team Challenge I have taken on an even bigger challenge. With Team Challenge, I am raising money for an amazing cause; the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
I always love seeing this sign upon arrival in Vegas.
In college I had a friend who had Crohn's disease. When I first started blogging, a blogger friend revealed that she had been fighting Crohn's disease. A couple of years back, my cousin, then 4 years old, was diagnosed with Crohn's. She has since been in and out of the hospital due to her disease. My cousin is now 9 years old and she has to face many challenges daily due to Crohn's. She receives infusions every 6 weeks and gracefully manages the challenges that Crohn's presents. She is a beautiful little girl that does not deserve to have to live with this disease.
Vegas holds a special place in my heart. I got married there after all!

While running a half marathon is fantastic and rewarding, raising money for a cause that will help current people affected by Crohn's and also provide resources for research to find a cure, is an even bigger accomplishment.
Running the Vegas Strip at night would be a dream come true.
My fundraising goal is ambitious. My goal is to raise $2,800 by late September. Will you consider helping me with a donation? Every dollar will help my goal a great deal and will also help those living with Crohn's.

Here is an example of your donation dollars at work:
$30………Provides a one year membership for someone in need
$50………Provides educational brochures to 375 patients
$100……Funds a month of Information Resource Center translation services for all patients
$300……Supports a Camp Oasis camper in need for one day
$500……Covers six months of unlimited online chat support with Patient Information Specialists
$1,000……Will open doors to over 20,000 patients who receive our bathroom access card
$2,500……Sends a child with IBD to Camp Oasis for one week
$5,000……Gives continuing education credit to hundreds of nurses attending our educational teleconferences
$10,000……….Supports the development of Patient Education brochures

Can't donate right now? Consider bookmarking my page and coming back when you can donate. Remember EVERY donation counts and matters no matter how much you donate.

Another way you can help is to help me promote my page. Consider sharing my page with others through your blog, social media channels, word of mouth, etc.

Not sure what Crohn's is? Learn more. By being knowledgable about this disease, you are helping raise awareness for a disease that is often not discussed because it is something that affects a very private aspect of one's life.

Thank you so much in advance for your help.
