Let's Play Dress Up

It amazes me how fast summer goes by. The Back to School shopping experience is upon us and soon after that it will be time to shop for Halloween costumes and then Christmas and holiday gifts. When I was in high school, back to school shopping was particularly important because I felt like I needed to find the right lunch box, school supplies, and first day of school outfit to make a "statement" about who I was. The first day of the school year set the tone for the rest of the year; who my friends would be, and how I would essentially feel about myself. Thinking back, I put a lot of pressure on my first day of the school year.

I put an equal amount of pressure on myself when it came to picking out evening gowns for big dances such as Homecoming or Prom. In my mind, it was never too early to start shopping for homecoming dresses. It was always very important to me that I had a dress that was one of a kind, unique, and that nobody had a dress that was similar. This was no easy task and I often made my mom drive me all over town looking for dresses. I would not settle for just any dress. I had to have a very special dress. Now that it is possible to shop online for dresses, it is an easier task to find the perfect dress that is unique and not like a dress that somebody else is wearing.

For the fun of it, I decided to reminisce and pull together some potential homecoming dresses that I would consider wearing to an upcoming fancy event. Each year I tried to pick a "look" that I was going for in a dress, hair, make up, shoes, etc. One year I was going for "elegant." The next I went for "classy chic" with white gloves. I loved getting dressed up and going to dances.
Here I am all dressed up and posing with my siblings before heading to a big dance at school.
If I was going to an event this year, I would go with "flirty." I found hundreds of dresses on DressFirst.com for any time of occasion which made shopping easy. For purposes of this post, all dresses were found on DressFirst unless otherwise noted.
