That is how I feel about my first pair of running shoes. I was lucky enough to stumble upon Asics Gel Nimbus 12 at Marshall's and I bought them because they were so cheap. At first I had no intentions of running in them but I quickly realized that not only were they pretty in pink, but they felt like slippers on my feet. I never wanted to take them off.

Perhaps I am so attached to these shoes because I had so many firsts in them...
I ran my first mile in these shoes.
I ran my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd 5k's in these shoes.
I ran in Florida, California, Boston, South Carolina, Michigan, and other places in these shoes.
I experienced the freedom of the road.
I believed in myself in these shoes.
I fell in love with running in these shoes.
When I reached 200 miles in these shoes I began to notice that they were losing their luster. Saddened by this, I started shopping hard core to find these shoes again. Ebay. Overstock websites. Marshalls. Any place I could think of I looked for these shoes. I continued to come up empty.
I continued to run in these shoes until I reached about 250 miles in them. I then got injured. With a small fracture in my right tibia and after speaking with my Dr., who is also a runner, we decided that it was time to retire my beloved shoes and buy a new pair.
The inevitable had arrived.

Thank you Asics Gel Nimbus 12's.
I will miss you---
There will never be a pair of running shoes like you.
For YOU were my first...
