Skin cancer is a big topic in our house these days. This
past year, D was diagnosed with skin cancer. Luckily, it is only the basil cell
kind (knock on wood) that can be surgically removed. We have had several biopsy
appointments which have resulted in the need for surgery. This year alone D has
had 7 skin cancer surgeries and he is expected to have more biopsies taken this
month.

Dave & I pale as can be in the sunshine. |
D and I both have very fair skin. Unlike my husband, I am
able to tan after I burn. I also have many moles, sunspots and freckles that
cause concern. When I was in college, I used to frequent the tanning bed and
have since noticed an influx in freckles all over my body.
Like most people, I enjoy being tan. D would like to be tan
but he does not have the ability to stay out in the sun for any period of time.
We are especially careful now due to the number of surgeries that he has had to
endure this year. Even though I have seen D go through surgeries to remove skin
cancer, I still want to be tan. I can’t help it. I love how I look when I have
a tan and I appreciate a summer glow.

We don't let the sun stop us from having fun. |
Because we do not frequent the sun very often any more, I
needed to find an avenue to accomplish a summer glow without sitting out in the
sunshine. I have tried lotion tanners in the past but had not had much success.
Orange fingers, leg and arm spots, and the smell of most self-tanners have
discouraged me from using lotions to accomplish the summer glow that I love so
much.
A friend mentioned to me that I should give Tarte cosmetics a try. I had made a comment on her summer glow
and she informed me that the Tarte
self-tanner was a winner. I visited my local Sephora and picked up a bottle
of Tarte Brazilliance™ maracuja face and body self-tanner with mitt.
A few things stood out to me about this self-tanner.
*It can be used on both your face
and your body
*Hydrates skin while giving it a
natural glow
*Light scent that is not
overpowering.
I started applying the lotion after my next shower. I liked
that the lotion did not show a dramatic difference immediately. The application
mitt really helps spread the lotion evenly omitting orange splotches.
I applied the lotion a couple of times before myself and
others noticed my authentic summer glow. I started to receive compliments and
many were surprised that I had been using a self-tanner.
I appreciate that I can accomplish a gorgeous summer glow
without harmful rays from the sun.
How do you accomplish a healthy summer glow?
