Refueling with Designer Whey + my new favorite smoothie recipe

As I learn more about working out, I find that I am not refueling my body in ways that I should be. I have seen whey protein products in various stores and thought that protein was for people on steriods. Crazy, stereotype?! Yes!

Running has taught me that it is critical to take care of your body. I used to think that after working out, a bottle of water is all that I needed. I did not realize that your body needs additional nutrients, such as protein to restore muscles for example.

Recently, I was provided with some Designer Whey products to try and sample. I have tried a number of products including but not limited to the Premium Whey Protein Powder, Protein2Go packets, and Protein bars. I am a fan of all three products and I will explain why.

Premium Whey Protein Powder
Favorite flavor: French Vanilla (100 calories!)
Favorite smoothie recipe: 1 small can of crushed pineapple, 2 bananas, 1 scoop of French Vanilla Designer Whey Protein, ice cubes, and a splash of coconut water. Throw it all together in a blender and blend into a smoothie. *sometimes I switched it up by adding strawberries, coconut shavings, or oatmeal.

Protein 2Go
Favorite flavor: Mixed Berry
Protein 2Go comes in easily transportable packets. They are a bit bigger than a typical Crystal Light packet and fits nicely into a gym bag, purse, or in your pocket. I love that these are so easy to grab and go and the flavors are delicious. Easy enough to add to a water bottle and enjoy on your way home from a workout.

Protein Bar
Favorite flavor: Triple Chocolate Crunch
These bars taste like dessert. I am a sweets addict and I was skeptical that I would not like these bars as I am not typically a fan of the like. These bars are delicious and they help me get through an intense sugar craving. I like to throw one of these in my bag and have it for a mid-day snack after lunch or for breakfast on the way to yoga on Saturday mornings.

Overall, I have been very pleased with Designer Whey products. I am running out of my French Vanilla Protein Powder and will be ordering more! 20 servings per container and it took me a few weeks to get through. Love this stuff!
