Boston

Sunday night D asked me if I had ever thought about running the Boston Marathon. I told him that it was a bucket list item for me and how I thought it would be so rewarding to be able to run 26.2 miles.

Monday afternoon I got a call from D. He was home sick from work so I thought he was calling to give me an update on his illness. I answered the phone to him saying there had been a bombing at the Boston Marathon. I thought, "huh?! what? No. Not at the marathon. Surely he is mistaken."

I then heard a coworker say, "OMG there has been a bombing at the Boston Marathon."

I couldn't believe it. Running is such a community event. Running brings people together. How could there be a bombing.

The world we live in is so so sad sometimes. Are we safe anywhere?

Today I ran. For Boston. For me. For the running community.

And I prayed for the violence to stop.
