Help me in welcoming Megan!
Hi Everyone! My name is Megan Reynolds and I'm the owner and designer behind Flawed Perfection Jewelry, a handmade jewelry company. I make jewelry and answer e-mails in between classes for my final year of college. I also blog here.
I was thrilled when Gina asked if I would contribute to her Holli Days series. Because jewelry is my passion, I decided to share a few tips on accessorizing for all your holiday parties and activities! I'm showing 3 ways you can accessorize without looking too matchy-matchy. (No tacky Christmas sweaters included!)
Way #1: Neutral Outfit + Holiday-Colored Accessories
Top-JC Penny, Pants-The Limited, Shoes-bought so long ago I don't remember, Necklace-Cookie Lee (gifted to me), Earrings-HSN (gifted to me), Bracelets-Flawed Perfection Jewelry
For this look, I recommend choosing a neutral and/or metallic outfit and adding holiday-colored accessories. Red and green can definitely be worn together when they are just accents. A top of red in the shoes and lips adds a bit more drama to the look to. (Great for a night event.) I was nervous to try the bold lip, but I LOVE it!
Way #2: Black Dress + Jewel-Toned Accessories
Dress-Target, Shoes-Payless, Tights-Target, Necklace-Spiffing Jewelry, Earrings-Flawed Perfection Jewelry, Bracelet-Swarovski
For this non-traditional holiday look, I focused on black and jewel tones. The teal and fuchsia are dark enough that they are perfect for this time of year! Bold tights and a statement necklace or bracelet are the perfect pairings with a simple black dress like this. F=With your jewel tones, I recommend wearing a maximum of TWO, so the look isn't too busy or overwhelming.
Way #3: Red Dress + Green & White Accessories
Dress-Gap, Shoes-Nordstrom's Rack, Headband-Craftee McGee, Necklace-purchased in Hawaii a couple of years ago, Earrings-Flawed Perfection Jewelry (not listed yet), Bracelets-Flawed Perfection Jewelry
For this third look, I focused on one of the two main holiday colors (red or green) and paired it with white and the other holiday color (red or green). Because the red is the focus, the small amount of green and white in the accessories don't scream Christmas. Metallic shoes complete the holiday feel of the look. A statement headband (in white) helps hint at holiday without being too much.
Thanks so much for having me today, Gina! I hope these tips have been helpful. Feel free to tweet with me or send me an e-mail (megan at flawedperfectionjewelry dot com)!
Isn't Megan fabulous? Remember to stop by and say hi to Megan!
