Want vs. Need Back to School Shoes

I can't believe it is already time for "back to school" shopping. Before we know it, it will be time to make a Christmas list and check it twice.
With back to school, comes the excitement of going shopping for new clothes, accessories, and of course shoes. I am excited to share some of my favorite shoes of the back to school season.
My husband always tells me that I have too many shoes and that I struggle with want vs. need when it comes to shoes. My husband has a point as I tend to over-buy when it comes to shoes.
This season I will not over buy. I made a list of shoes that I want. I assure you it was very long so I trimmed it back by prioritizing what I would use the shoes for. This is how I came up with my final list of shoes to purchase this fall and I separated them by priority and in Want vs. Need categories.

I have been lusting over Tory Burch flats for years. With a $250 price tag however, they are not a pair that I can buy without saving up.
Sperry-Topsider
I have always wanted a pair of "sperry's" because they are so versatile. Originally created as a boating shoe, college students and young adults alike have been wearing sperry's for quite some time with shorts or khaki pants. Sperry's have the ability to make outfits look like instant "east coast prep" and are a staple in many closets. This season, Sperry is offering a glittery rendition of their famous shoe. Although I will not be buying a pair of the glittery Sperry's, I do plan to purchase a classic, neutral pair that will match many outfits.
I own a couple of pairs of Tom's and I am obsessed with their comfort and versatility. I love that you can dress up Tom's or wear them casually with shorts. I also love what the brand stands for and the ongoing contributions that Tom's makes to those in need. This season, I am lusting over the new corduroy Tom's. Swoon!

My wants always tend to be more fun than my need list. Here are some of the "needs" on my back to school shopping list.
I have several important meetings coming up in early fall and need to wear professional dress. I found these mary jane pumps by Fitzwell and think they will look cute with pantsuits or skirts.

For more casual days at the office, I need a classic pair of flats like these by Jensrud. At $40, I can get a pair in gray and black or even brown!

What shoes are you lusting over this season? Do you create a want vs. need list to keep your shoe habit in check too?

I agree with you about Toms, they're comfy and versatile. Perfect for my day job but fun for the weekends! I almost always wear flats to work since I do a lot of walking. I always seem to have my eye on a pair of boots :)

Confession–I've already started my Christmas list! But on my "back to school" shoe list are a pair of Bass Weejuns and preppy sneakers! You can tell my office is pretty casual!
