To buy an iPad or a laptop?

This is just to test how it feels to blog on an iPad. I am trying to decide if I want to buy one or not and so of course I had to attempt to post an entry. One thing that I know is missing right off the bat are USB ports. I did find out that there's a USB port you can buy. Whew!:)

Do you use an iPad? Do you use it instead of a laptop or regular computer or in conjunction? Do you blog on your iPad?

Thanks for helping me with this decision!

omg I can't wait to hear about this discussion...I'm debating the SAME THING! We have a desktop, but the hubby and I "fight" over it...we're looking at getting a laptop but thinking maybe a iPad instead....?!?!

I always think that I want an iPad. I mean, they're so fun and have some awesome apps. But... I can't upload pictures from my DSLR to an iPad which means I couldn't use it for blogging on the road (or away from a computer) without having my laptop present as well. And then I might as well not even use the iPad because I'm already on the laptop. I could use it to check email or browse the internet, but I have an iPhone that does the same thing. I'm already paying for 3G service for one device and would not want to pay the monthly fee for 3G for an iPad, meaning no internet without WiFi.

So in summary, I'm pro-laptop, anti-iPad... if you have an iPhone (or other smart phone). If you have to choose between the two, I'd get a laptop.

This is a really good point! I use the computer mostly for blogging and am worried about the picture upload stuff. I do have an iPhone so you make a good point. Thanks for your opinion!

There's some really great insight posted. I liked the thought of an iPad because of the cost, size, weight, and portability but I can see where I would run into some trouble such as the uploading of photos from my dslr.

I have an ipad and a laptop. I read blogs on my iPad and do so many things on my iPad but I still blog on my laptop.

Hey Gina, I have both also. I love my iPad but do not blog from it. My main issue is that edit photos in lightroom on the laptop or desktop. You can upload pics from your camera to ipad though with this adapter:

If you're not using the iPad in the field though, it's really just a toy. A fun one though! I definitely couldnt have made it through train rides into Chicago without my iPad and 3G. Magazines, books, music, Internet, etc. So while a laptop may be easier, the iPad may bring you enough entertainment to deal with it lol.

The responsible part in my brain keeps saying to buy the laptop...but I would get the iPad and get used to blogging on it if ihad to choose. I love mine :). Good luck choosing!

Everybody loves a great deal no matter what time of year it is. With Christmas slowly passing by there will be some awesome after Christmas deals to be had on refurbished laptops and desktops. Finding the right refurbished laptop or desktop for yourself is not a hard thing. Most sites offer customer reviews of each product they sell and market which allows previous buyers to give present buyers an idea of what they are buying. It is always helpful to read those reviews before you make your decision. You can check "ElectroComputerWarehouse" and I am sure you will find a good one for you..
