When I grow up...

Going to work with my mom was the coolest thing in the world.
Going to work with Mom meant that I didn't have to go to school!
My mom is a nurse and I have always admired the work that she does.

In high school I loved my government classes. I was terrible at math and I strategically selected my undergraduate major to be something with little to no math requirements.
In high school I decided I wanted to be an Ambassador for the United Nations or a lawyer.

In college I changed my tune and decided I wanted to be a lawyer.

I was a Resident Advisor in undergrad. I loved working with students. Never in a million years would I have imagined that I would still be working with students.

What is your story? Do you work full-time? What is your career? Was it your dream job? I would love to do a post on "Take your Blogger to Work Day" to share our career experiences.

I think that it would be amazing to see the array of professional experiences in our blog community and also be able to connect with one another on a deeper level.

If you are interested in participating, email: gina (at) hiyaluv (dot) com by March 10.
The post will debut March 21.

I always wanted to be an artist of some type. This shifted through the entire spectrum of "art," from painter to screenwriter to novelist to fashion designer. When I finally went to art school I had a moment of sheer practical madness and decided to major in journalism and marketing (snore), but now I'd love to be a blogger full-time, so I guess that kind of fits. I currently blog freelance part time and write for print media and run my shop part time as well. I love everything I do!

I always wanted to be a lawyer when I was little. Even in high school I was voted as Public Defender and Prosecuting Attorney for my class on government day. Then I thought once I got to college that accounting would be more my speed because I knew I wanted to stay home when I had kids. Then 2 months after we got married I found out I was 5 weeks pregnant, so I changed my major to Management, because I knew I wouldn't end up getting my masters at that point. I ended up graduating with my son being almost a year old and being 7 months pregnant with Matti. . .boy how life changes haha. I still toy with the idea of going back to school for a law degree. . .who knows. . .

So fun! I still wish I was too pretty to work. Hahahaha I have wanted to be the most random things. Growing up I wanted to be an actress, a singer, a flight attendant, a weather woman, and a cruise director. Then high school I realized I loved psychology and that is where my passion still is. I am working on my Masters in family therapy now and I love it. I work in people's homes with families with kids who have behavioral issues and it's super challenging but I love it. Some day I hope to open a private practice working with eating disorders. So that is my journey. Love this post Gina!!!

Elementary school- I wanted to be a teacher, only for the ability to discipline the bad children. Horrible right? Hahaha
Middle school- I wanted to be a singer only because I wanted my music teacher to pick me to song during mass. Again, that wasn't a good reason to be a singer.
High school- I wanted to be a doctor because my parents wanted me to become one. Hmm, I see a trend here!
College- I did go to med school, only to transfer to an art school because I wanted to become a designer. :) This time I am doing it for myself.

I don't have a full time job yet, but I never thought when I was younger that teaching violin would be it! I always said that I would never be a teacher like my mom, and now I love it!

hmmmm, I'm one of those people who's never really known what they wanted to do/be.
Growing up I think I changed my mind every 6 months - from a professional showjumper; makeup artist; actress; elocution teacher; to a private detective... the list goes on (mostly arts), in fact I think I typed a list one time. But I've never been passionate about any one thing enough to pursue it, so fell into admin after school as my mum had 'trained' me for it. In recent years I've tended toward becoming a baker (cakes); own skincare line; and now my crafts :) xox
