The Super Bowl is coming! Make this!

The other day I guest posted over at 30 Days blog. In case you missed it, I thought I would share the goodness here too!

During the winter months I rarely like to leave the house on the weekends.
I also love to snuggle on the couch and watch football as much as I possibly can.
Snuggling more likely than note always leads to lazy naps and not a lot of motivation to make a creatively orchestrated lunch.

Therefore I tend to enjoy making easy yet delicious dips to enjoy throughout a cold afternoon.
Today I am going to share a really easy recipe using Velveeta cheese as the staple ingredient.

What you will need:
1/2 block of Velveeta Cheese
1 can of Ro-tel
1 lb. of turkey burger {I used leftover steak from our dinner the previous night}
1/2 cup of shredded cheese
1 bag of tortilla chips or fresh veggies for dipping
1 little helper (optional)

Step 1:
Brown meat and drain grease. In my case, I used leftover steak so I skipped this step however I cut up the steak into very fine small pieces.

Step 2:
In a bowl chop up the Velveeta cheese into cubes. This will help the cheese melt evenly.

Step 3:
Combine all 3 ingredients (meat, cheese, and Ro-Tel) into a medium saucepan and mix together over medium heat. Continue to heat until all cheese is melted. I found that stirring the dip on a consistent basis helps melt the cheese faster and heat the dip evenly.

NOTE: You can also microwave the dip instead of heating in a saucepan on a stove. To heat in the microwave combine all ingredients in am microwave safe dish, cover, and heat in the microwave for 5 minutes on high. After 3 minutes, stir the ingredients. Continue to heat the dip. After 5 minutes mix the dip again and put the dip in the microwave for at least 1-2 minutes. Do not be surprised to see some buildup of cheese on the side of the dish however the middle still be cold. This is what I mean by heating evenly.
Caution: The dish will be hot when taking it out of the microwave so be sure to use hot pads!

Step 4:
Sprinkle the top of the dip with shredded cheese and serve.

Step 5: Wait for compliments.

I hope you enjoy this recipe. It is really easy while providing a lovely snack that many are sure to love! What is your favorite winter afternoon appetizer?
