soliciting advice

I need your advice.
BAD!

I spent the weekend making things for my etsy shop that I have been chomping at the bit to open. I am so excited to join such a special community and at the same time intimidated because of all the amazing talent that is out there. My store is going to be filled with cuteness made with luv {squeals of joy} but and this is a big BUT-my camera is d.e.a.d. As in takes terrible pictures. I have been using my blackberry to take photos for months.
This is where you come in.

What camera should I buy? I watched several youtube videos this weekend and read reviews on camera websites but I want to know from YOU-what camera do you use to take photos of your handmade wares?

Can you help a sista out?

Thanks luv!

I have a Canon Rebel that is 5 years old. It has been tried and true, but whenever it goes I think I will be looking at a Nikon.

i love your shop banner, Gina! Super cute! :]
I currently have a pretty crappy camera, so don't ask me for advice! But it's interesting reading the above comments... I always wanted a rebel, but I guess I should look into Nikon a bit more, heh? :]

I have a NikonD3000 DSLR. It's pretty hardcore and I don't recommend it for day to day use just because it's a pain to lug around. But the pictures are always gorgeous.

I have a really crappy camera (it's on my wishlist!) so I can't give much advice, but congrats on opening a shop! :)

I am excited for your shop!

I am so sorry your camera died. I have had a Canon Rebel Xsi for about a year and a half and it has done great. That isn't that long though I am aware. Hmmm...Good luck! Whatever you do I think the extra $100 for the replacement plan is totally worth it.

I have a Nikon D60. Love it. I am not sure if they actually make my model anymore but there are lots of different Nikons out there just like the Canons. I would mind having a slightly higher model Nikon but it is what it is... I will upgrade with time.

My camera looks like the one sitting next to Mario there! Canon Rebel XSi. I also have a Canon PowerShot A95 AiAF that I've had for about 6 years. It's been pretty good to me! (A smaller camera, good for carrying around in a purse and such). I've had to send it in for a repair once, which they did for free! :)

I'm new to DSLRs but I love love love my nikon d5000. Still learning to use all the features but it takes such great photos. When you choose which camera you want, make sure to check at Costco. We got the camera, an lens and a bag for the same price as just the camera at Best Buy.
