What's in a hot glue gun?

Right now I am crafting with a $3 hot glue gun. When I am out shopping at craft stores I see a variety of glue guns in an array of prices.

What is in a glue gun?

Do I need a fancy, schmancy one?

Hmm, I have no idea what to tell you there. I use tacky glue for a lot of my stuff, but I have a rechargable glue gun that my mother-in-law got me for Christmas one year. It works great.

BTW, I made a very close variation of your dip (I didn't have all the ingredients), and Jim LOVED it! Thanks for sharing it ;D

I had a glue gun bought from a local craft shop (just a cheap one) with insertable glue sticks, somewhat similar to the picks. You had to let it heat up for a few minutes, but other than that it worked fine. x

I have a 10 dollar glue gun that lets me do hot or cold settings. Seems cool. But I've only actually used to cold setting once and that was just to see what happened. I say stick with what works.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! We had a pretty enormous glue gun that I loved as a kid, but I can't remember the last time I pulled out mine!

I think I have the same one! It works for me, so why spend the extra money?....especially when I can use that money I saved on stamps...or satin...or paper, haha :)

If it works and it's $3...who needs a fancy one?

I have the same one. Don't adore it, but don't hate it either... It has seen me through many a project!

for the entire existence of my rosette headbands, i've used a $1 glue gun that works perfectly.

i'm always tempted by the huge ones that i see ((and that i remember playing with in my grandmother's flower shop as a kid)) but mine works just fine and i love how tiny it is/how it fits perfectly in my hand...

It's funny that you mention it, last time I was in Joann's Fabrics I tried to buy a hot glue gun but they had too many different types and I didn't know which one to buy! I was surprised to see how cheap they were too.
