staying organized: let's discuss and share

How do you stay organized with your blog? Etsy/handmade business? work? school? play? anything else that consumes your day?

Do you map out what you will blog about? Do you set handmade shop goals for yourself? How do you plan for your future?

Oh my goodness, I am such an organizer! I usually create a daily post for each day of the week on Saturdays, then add things I absolutely can't live without sharing as they come up!

And I changed some settings so hopefully you'll be able to find my email address! Just in case it's: lapetitecoquin@gmail.com. I would love, love, love to hear from you!

I am not the most organized person. My honey's schedule and mine conflict so much I really should be better at it. For 2 weeks I had scheduled my blog posts in advance... now I am doing it on my down time. I'm trying to convince myself that flying by the seat of my pants isn't best. I would be happier with us being able to relax at home together when we are both there than both playing catch up on our phones and computers!

Tip... marry someone more organized than you are. Not someone just as disorganized as you!

How dare you accuse me of being organized! I am not now, nor have I ever been organized!

Ummm, I don't think I do, lol! I just try to do at least 2 posts a week and not let it consume my free time. It's important not to overdo it, I think, so it's still fun and not work.

I live my life by a planner and LOTS and LOTS of post-it notes!

I make a list for my tech blog but for our family blog I just review the calendar and pictures and start writing.

i don't really have a plan on what im going to write about each night. But I do have a running list in my mind of things I need to blog about. I guess it just depends on my mood that evening. ;) haha

i have a bunch of great blog tutorials you might be interested in. Stop by when you get a chance. You may already know all of it.. but just in case.

have a great day!

Um? Organized? I try to make to-do lists everyday and check them off as I go. Makes me feel efficient. On days I "never made a list" I can say a lot of time is wasted.

I kind of plan as I go. That sounds like an oxy moron but it is true. I plan the week before general things I want to do and have to do. Then I make a concrete list for the next day. If I don't finish my whole weekly list, that is fine. I just slate it for the next week.

my planner is my best friend. at the beginning of the week, i get 4 colored pens.

blue: work out plan
black: work, etc
orange: meals
red: blog topics

i try my best to schedule blogs in advance, but it doesn't always work. it is nice to know, though, on a busy day, that a blog is already typed up & scheduled to go.

I'm a list maker. I'm a list maker to the nth degree. I also have been running my own business from home for over 4 years, so I know how much time I need to allot for that. I have general outlines for what to post each day mon-fri. The weekends are kind of a crap shoot. I look at everything like a job though. A lot of bloggers say not to post unless you are inspired to do so, but I am not a person overwhelmed by inspiration. I am much happier with a schedule. (nerd alert.)

hey gina!

i keep an editorial calendar but not necessarily for blog post topics. i keep track of Featured Artist posts, when there's a giveaway, etc.

i also have a pretty serious file system for moving orders out the door.

orders received
my assistant's workload for the week
ready to sew
ready to ship

then on the front porch they go! :]

Hi Gina....Thought I'd stop by and check you out! Thanks for visiting my blog the other day :):) ...and I see that we're both members of SITS!

It's so hard for me to keep up sometimes....I need to come up with a plan, so that I can keep up with my life, as well as blogging! I commend all you ladies for staying on top of things. I'm actually dedicating THIS WEEK to getting organized and coming up with a plan! (I'll let you all know how that goes!)

Ooh, keeping the blog stuff organized is definitely tricky! I love that blogger lets you "time" your blog posts. October is a busy month for me, so I've set my posts up weeks ahead of time. I try to make sure I keep a good variety of posts, but sometimes I slip and blog about jewelry twice in a row. Since commenting on other's blogs is a huge part of my blogging, I also have a ridiculously organized Google Reader going on. Hope this helps!

I really good at keeping my job stuff organized, I keep to do lists for it, I separate the lists by the amount of time it will take to finish the task.

I'm having a hard time getting my blog editorial calendar organized and my Etsy shop looks abandoned. So needless to say I have some organizing to do.

Hi Gina, stopping by from our White Mouse group. I tried mapping and having an editorial calendar for my blog, but I discovered too much pressure wasn't good for my mojo! So now I use the mapping when I'm stuck for a topic, and I blog when I'm inspired. That being said, I rely 100% on my daily planner for work appointments and tasks.
