A fantastic weekend filled with worry

This weekend was marvelous. It was a whirlwind of activity beginning with a text message during the wee hours of Thursday morning that I received from my Aunt in California.

The text I received immediately sent my mind into a tizzy. It said this, "I have an extra ticket to the Ohio State vs. Miami game. Can I fly you to Columbus for the weekend?"

She, along with my cousins were in the middle of taking a red eye from San Diego to Columbus, Ohio and at 5:00 am when I woke up and received the text message we began working on finding me a "reasonably" priced flight.

Success occurred sometime on Thursday morning but there were so many other things that had to come into play in order to pull it off.
Work and Polo kept running through my mind. As Dave is out of town I had to get Polo settled at daycare which I did on Thursday night.

Work, work, work and more work was the only thing stuck in my way. It was difficult to pull off but I was able to get out of work to come home for the weekend despite the many things that were going on.

My weekend was brilliant-even though work was weighing on my mind the ENTIRE time.

I need to LET GO.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

What do you do when the going gets tough?

I eat candy! I also do that when the going isn't tough.

What a fun spontaneous weekend! And what a cute picture of you girls! It's rough though when work stress carries over into the weekend. I try to take deep breaths and live in the moment, realizing I can't do anything to change it when I'm not at work. Good luck, Gina!

Love spontaneous fun like this. I tend to put headphones on rock out and let it all roll away. Generally what happens is I do the fun thing. Glad you went!

Worry a lot, then pray, then finally realize that this too shall pass, and that I shouldn't fear (I still do sometimes). It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend and your buckeyes even won to boot! What a lovely picture of you and your family ;D

So glad you got to see everyone and head home!

When the going gets tough, I stick with the classics-long, hot baths and homemade baked goods!

I'm so glad that you got to get away Gina! And it sounds like a great time... I wish you didn't have to be stressed during it. I totally understand though, I'm the same way, but I wish I could just let it go. [btw- darling picture of you with yoru cousins!]

A huge bear hug from the hubby usually does the trick! It's a work-ethic thing, not being able to let go, despite it all. Pleased you had fun with your family. x

I hate when work gets in the way of a good time! At least you got to have a fun tailgate to get away for a little while!

Hugs from the littles and some Ben and Jerrys never hurt!

Yay!! Go bucks! So great you pulled it off ~ just take deep breaths and try to give yourself a break. I do yoga too, when things get rough... or turn to a glass of red wine :)

Happy to see another Ohio girl in the blog world!
