Get involved! Football Edition!

A fantastic way to nurture your blog and continue to make a community out of your blog is by getting involved in whatever way that you can. Many plan coffee dates with bloggers in the region, meet up at various conferences, link up to share recipes and crafts, participate in twitter chats, pen pal groups, and a variety of other things.

As I have mentioned before I am a lover of football. A couple of years back I got involved in a fantasy football league with a colleague at work and it was so much fun. I was even more into football than ever before because I built a team of players and my team "played" against other colleagues' teams. It was so much fun.

Are you interested in joining a fantasy football league? We can play for free. The draft is online and is really simple. I plan to set up the league through Yahoo! and it is really user friendly. If you have never played fantasy football before and are interested, but have questions-send me a message at regina_dixon763 {at} yahoo {dot} com

For those of you who may not know exactly what Fantasy Football entails, here is a brief description from Wikipedia. The league would not be time consuming and would be great fun!

Fantasy Football is a fantasy sports game in which participants (called "owners") are arranged into a competitive league, earning “fantasy points” by using the statistics of real football players. The owners of each league draft real-life American football players, typically from either the NFL or NCAA, filling a roster containing the various offense or defensive positions on a team, such as QuarterbackRunning BackWide Receiver, and Tight End. Depending on how well the players on an Owner’s team do in a given week, the team earns Fantasy Points to compete against the other owners in the league. If a running back rushes for a touchdown, for instance, the running back earned a pre-determined amount of points for that running back’s owner. At the end of the season, win-loss records determine league rankings or qualifications into a playoff bracket. Most leagues set aside the last weekends of the regular season for their own playoffs, which determines the league’s champion for that season.

Interested? Maybe? Not sure? drop me a note.

What a fun idea! I would totally do it, but my dad just decided that the family is playing it together this year as a way to stay more connected. . . so I'm already doing it. :]

I love the idea of having a fantasy football team, but I don't know anything about football and I lose interest when I try to figure it out. But I do love going over to friends' houses to watch games (aka eat pizza and drink wine). :)

I don't understand football AT ALL, but I wish you the best of time during the season. :)
