College Part 3: University of California, Riverside

In 2005 I graduated with my Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration. I had lived in Ohio my entire life and was just chomping at the bit to get out and try something new. I applied and interviewed at schools all over the nation. I had a choice between staying in the midwest, or moving to South Florida, Chicago, or Southern California. I chose to move all the way to Southern California and I worked at the University of California, Riverside for 3 blissful years. I loved my time at UCR and if I could I would go back to Riverside today-as in right this second as I write this post.

Had I not met Dave, who lived in Delaware (hence why I moved to Delaware), I would still be living in Southern California. I often feel like I left my "heart" there.

I like Delaware and all. And do not plan to move any time soon. But if my old boss called me from UCR and told me a job was open, you bet I would apply for it. No question.

University of California, Riverside with gorgeous mountains in the background. I lived 20 minutes from Palm Springs, 35-40 minutes from Orange County, 1.5 hours from San Diego, 40 minutes from LA, and 3 hours from Vegas (all driving). I was never home-I was always out and about doing something. Polo loved the dog parks that were every where you looked in Southern California.

UCR at night

Pentland Hills, one of the buildings I managed during my 3 year tenure at UCR.

This little villa-like house on the side was where I lived. I loved it. It was gorgeous and rent/utilities free.
Yea free-as in no charge. Amazing right?! I worked my butt off though I assure you.

O wow, those mountains are amazing! And free rent in CA- you can't beat that!

[I think "I left my ♥ in San Fransisco" is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day!]

Inland Empire shout out ;) The heat will kill ya though . . . but I suppose it is a small price to pay. Look at those gorgeous San Gabriel Mountains, stinking pretty! I don't think people realize So. Cal has such great mountains!

UC Riverside is probably the only UC I've never been to, but it's GORGEOUS! And what a perfect location! I went to UCLA and loved it there and I definitely love Southern California. How did you meet Dave?
