College Part 2: University of Toledo

As I mentioned in my previous post, I adored college. In fact I loved it so much that I work in higher education as my career and am constantly surrounded by college students. For years, working with college students has been my passion because I have the opportunity to make a difference just like student affairs professionals made a difference in my development as a young adult while in college.
It all started when I was a Resident Advisor in Parks Tower on the University of Toledo's campus in the fall of 2000. I was a RA for 3 years.

In graduate school I worked as a Hall Director. I also supervised Resident Advisors, advised student groups, handled minor roommate conflicts and crisis situation, and planned social events with faculty members amongst many other things.

Toledo was really cold! I did not appreciate the University of Toledo for its beauty at the time. In fact all I could think about was moving to Southern California which I did after graduation. If I could go back to college for another year, I would try really hard to appreciate Toledo for its great qualities even if the wind did cut through you like a knife during the winter.

I loved being apart of Army ROTC. For 2 years, or 4 semesters, I took ROTC for fun-as an elective. I was the only student in the class that was not on scholarship/enlisted but that did not bother me. I was intrigued by the ROTC program because they always got to go on fun field trips, repel from buildings on campus, and learn great leadership skills. I adored my time in ROTC and if I could have I would have done it for longer.

Toledo Football
Going to football games and cheering on the Rockets was also a favorite activity of mine. I loved the Glass Bowl stadium. I loved that you could see the Bell Tower from anywhere in the stands!

Thanks for reminiscing with me!

These posts have been so much fun! I love college [especially at this time of year. . . wish I was moving into a dorm!]

I love stories about my fellow bloggers! I only lived in a dorm for one year but I loved it. I had a random roommate and we've been stuck together like glue ever since.
